Been there. Done all that. Let’s talk real for a second.
Nutrition advice online? It’s a messy buffet — and not the good kind. So today, I’m serving 5 big fat lies we’ve all been fed (pun 100% intended), and what’s actually true.
🍞 LIE #1: “Carbs are the enemy.”
Truth: The only enemy here is misinformation and maybe that rock-hard diet bread.
Carbs are your body’s best friend with benefits. They give you energy. What matters more is what kind of carbs you eat — roti, rice, fruits? Go ahead. A croissant the size of your head every day? Maybe not.
Eat smart, not scared. Your body isn’t plotting revenge over a dosa.
🍳 LIE #2: “Skip breakfast to lose weight.”
Truth: Skipping breakfast makes you hangry, not skinny.
Let’s be honest — when you skip breakfast, you either:
-
Overcompensate at lunch like a buffet warrior
-
Or nibble random junk till dinner and wonder why you feel blah
You don’t need a 5-star spread. Even a boiled egg, banana, or leftover poha counts. Feed your body before it feeds on your willpower.
🧈 LIE #3: “Fat is bad for you.”
Truth: Only toxic friends and trans fat are bad. Not ghee.
Yes, read that again: ghee is not your enemy. Your brain, hormones, and skin need good fat. What’s “good”? Ghee, nuts, seeds, coconut, avocado (if your wallet agrees).
Fat doesn’t make you fat. Overeating junk and blaming fat? That’s the real crime.
🍌 LIE #4: “Fruits have sugar. So avoid them.”
Truth: That logic is like saying don’t drink water because oceans cause floods.
Yes, fruits have sugar — but it’s natural sugar wrapped in fibre, vitamins, and magic. Bananas, mangoes, grapes — eat them guilt-free. They’re not candy bars.
Stop fighting fruits. They’re on your side.
🧃 LIE #5: “Detox drinks will fix everything.”
Truth: Your body already has a detox system. It’s called your liver and kidneys. And they’re free.
Green juice isn’t going to cancel out five days of instant noodles and zero sleep. Sure, lemon water feels nice — but don’t expect it to erase life’s sins.
Real detox? Sleep well, eat real food, drink water, poop regularly. That’s the unfiltered truth.
💬 Final Bites:
Let’s keep it simple:
You don’t need 1000 rules.
You need real food, in real amounts, eaten by a real human (you), who also laughs, naps, and lives life.
So the next time someone says “don’t eat that,” ask:
Is it science or just recycled Instagram noise?
You got this. Your plate, your rules.
Eat smart. Live loud. And for heaven’s sake — stop fearing bananas.
